Free music education that opened new horizons, strengthened connections and introduced young people to new cultural experiences.
Presented by Árvore Cultural in two editions funded through Brazil’s cultural incentive framework, Projeto Tocar provided free musical education to children and teenagers from public schools, broadening their horizons, nurturing talent and creating new possibilities through the arts.
Through singing and instrumental music classes, the project carried out activities at Escola Casa da Música, GOTI/Vila Pantanal, CRAS Frei Alípio and Esquinas das Artes, reaching more than 500 children and young people throughout its history.
Beyond the classroom, participants took part in performances, met artists, experienced life behind the scenes and shared moments of recognition that brought together education, community and access to culture.
Results and Experiences
- More than 500 children and young people reached across two editions.
- Music education programmes held in São Paulo and Itu.
- Special performance at Tom Jazz, supported by SESI National Council and featuring the band Língua de Trapo.
- An encounter with Gilberto Gil, including the soundcheck, backstage experience and live performance.
- Recognition of 43 participants, who received musical instruments to continue their learning journey.
